What's new in Parlo.
Parlo updates itself: when a new version is out, it offers to install it from inside the app. You can also check any time from the menu bar icon → Check for Updates.
- Fixed: dictation in Slack, Claude and other Electron apps. Since 0.1.32, dictating into apps like Slack, Claude, VS Code, Discord or Notion could leave your words in the notch with a Copy button even though the cursor was in a text box. Parlo types into them again.
- Choose your own shortcuts. Dictation and commands no longer have to be fn and fn+ctrl. Pick any modifier on its own or combined (Right ⌥, fn ⇧) or a key with modifiers (⌥ Space, F5), plus an optional second shortcut for each, in Settings → General. Your current shortcuts carry over.
- A cleaner Meetings window. Meetings are grouped by date (Today, Yesterday, Previous 7 Days, then by month), each with a one-line preview of what was discussed. Notes now show proper bullets, numbered lists, checkboxes and timestamps on a clean white page.
- Rename meetings. Click a meeting's title to rename it; the notes follow.
- Record from the Meetings window. A Record button sits in the window's toolbar, and Delete Meeting is in the ⋯ menu.
- Dictation is never lost. If no text field is focused when you finish speaking, Parlo keeps the text in the notch with a Copy button instead of typing it into nowhere. The "Typed" toast after every dictation is gone.
- Liquid Glass on macOS 26. The Meetings and Settings windows and the notch pill take on the new macOS look, and the pill's colors now mean one thing each: red while listening, blue while working, green when done, orange when it needs you. On macOS 15 everything looks as before.
- A simpler menu. "Setup & Permissions…" is now "Settings…" (⌘,), and your account and Sign In are a single entry.
- Parlo Cloud meeting notes. Better notes from a hosted model, included with your plan, no API key needed. Only the transcript text and the meeting's details are sent, never audio, and nothing is stored. New installs choose it at setup; existing ones can switch in Setup → Meetings. The Meetings window always shows whether notes came from Parlo Cloud or on-device, and a failed cloud run falls back to on-device so notes are never lost.
- Names from your calendar. When a recording matches a calendar event, the invite's attendees are used to name speakers in the transcript and to assign action items, instead of "Speaker 1".
- Fixed: silent mic track with a second microphone connected. If EarPods, a headset or a USB mic was present, the mic track could record nothing at all since the device appeared. Recordings now capture your voice again in that setup.
- Switch microphones mid-recording. Unplug a headset, plug one in, or let a battery die: Parlo follows whatever macOS uses as the input and keeps recording without a gap.
- Voice Isolation hint. During your first recording, Parlo points you to macOS's Mic Mode so you can pick Voice Isolation for a cleaner track. Shown once.
- Waveform for the other side. The recording pill now moves when the other participants talk, not only when you do.
- Updated internals. Refreshed the speech recognition, on-device language model, and updater libraries to their latest versions. No new features, just a healthier base for what comes next.
- A real Settings window. Setup is now organized into General, Dictation, Models, Meetings, Privacy and Updates, so each setting lives where you'd go looking for it instead of competing in one long page.
- Resize it, and it stays. The window can be resized and reopens at whatever size you left it. Longer sections scroll properly, so nothing runs off the bottom of the screen and out of reach any more.
- Everything is readable. Folder paths and model names now show in full, and you can select and copy them, instead of being shortened with a "…" through the middle.
- Start at login is in Settings. It sits in General next to your shortcuts now, rather than only in the menu bar.
- Always shows your real settings. Reopening the window reflects your current values, so nothing is ever left showing a stale copy.
- Choose any local language model. Qwen3 4B, Qwen3.5 4B, or MiniCPM5 2B — or type any Hugging Face model under Custom.
- Swap without waiting. Your current model keeps working while the new one downloads in the background.
- Safe by design. Parlo checks a model works before downloading it, saves only successful swaps, and falls back to the default if one ever fails to load.
- Free up space. See which models you've downloaded and their sizes, and delete the ones you don't use.
- A nudge for lower-RAM Macs. On Macs with less than 16GB of RAM, Parlo now points you toward cloud meeting notes instead of the on-device model, since that's the pass most likely to feel slow on longer meetings. It's just a suggestion: a one-time tip after setup and a hint in Setup → Meeting Notes. Nothing is ever turned on for you.
- Reasoning level for cloud notes. If you use OpenAI, Anthropic, or a custom endpoint for meeting notes, you can now dial in how hard the model should think before writing them, from Off up to Max. Higher levels can produce more thorough notes on complex meetings, at the cost of a slower, pricier request.
- Graceful when a model doesn't support it. Not every model accepts every reasoning level. Parlo now retries automatically without it rather than giving up on the cloud result, so one unsupported setting never costs you cloud-quality notes, let alone the meeting itself.
- Share straight to Google Drive. Setup → Meeting Sharing → connect Google Drive, pick a folder — your My Drive or a Workspace Shared Drive — and each shared meeting lands there as a native Google Doc (or markdown, your choice). Re-sharing updates the same file in place instead of creating duplicates.
- One destination sheet. Sharing a meeting now asks once — Google Drive or a Shared Folder — instead of juggling two separate flows.
- Least-privilege by design. Parlo only ever touches the files it creates (
drive.filescope) — it can't see or list the rest of your Drive, and nothing is ever deleted on your behalf. Recordings never leave your Mac; only notes, transcript, and metadata are shared. - Suggests stopping the recording, too. Parlo already offers to record when it hears a call start; now it offers to stop once the other side hangs up — "Meeting ended — stop recording & take notes?" A recording you started manually for an in-person conversation is never interrupted this way.
- Fixes. Re-sharing to Google Drive no longer keeps the old file type after switching between Doc and markdown output. Setup & Permissions… now sizes itself to whichever section you're on, instead of carrying a scrollbar.
- Share any meeting with one click. A new Share button in the Meetings window copies the meeting's notes, transcript, and metadata into the shared folder; a small arrow badge marks meetings that are already there. Regenerate the notes and hit Share again to refresh the copy.
- Pick any folder — your iCloud Drive, Google Drive (desktop app), OneDrive, Dropbox, or a network share — in Setup & Permissions… → Meeting Sharing, then share that folder with your team once in the provider's app. Everyone in the folder sees every meeting you share.
- Bring a team up to date instantly. "Copy Existing Meetings" in Setup copies your whole library to the folder on demand; it's safe to run again — already-identical files are skipped.
- Auto-share (optional, off by default). Turn it on and every finished meeting lands in the shared folder as soon as its notes are written.
- Your recordings stay private. Only notes, transcript, and metadata are ever shared — meeting audio never leaves your Mac. Sharing is export-only: your local copies stay canonical, and Parlo never touches what your team does with the shared files.
- Better notes, on-device. Typical meetings are now summarized in one pass over the whole transcript (up to ~6,000 words) instead of stitched-together chunks, so summaries, decisions, and action items are grounded in the full conversation — noticeably better and more coherent output.
- Regenerate Notes in the Meetings window reruns generation on the saved transcript and refreshes the pane in place; it also fills in a real, content-derived title when the meeting had a generic one ("Meeting", "Zoom meeting").
- Polish with ChatGPT/Claude. A new Polish menu in the Meetings window opens the transcript in ChatGPT or Claude with a ready-made notes prompt — the transcript lands on your clipboard, so it's paste and enter.
- Optional cloud notes with your own key (off by default). Setup → Meeting Notes lets you generate notes with OpenAI, Anthropic, or any OpenAI-compatible endpoint (LM Studio, Groq, OpenRouter…) using your own API key, including a custom Base URL. Saving a key runs an instant connection test, so you know your key and endpoint work before you rely on them. If a cloud run ever fails, notes are still generated on-device — and you'll see exactly why it failed.
- Meetings window cleanup. Copy / Reveal in Finder / Regenerate / Polish moved into a proper toolbar — nothing gets clipped when the window is narrow — and every action has a hover tooltip.
- Fixes. ⌘V / ⌘C / ⌘X / ⌘A work again in Parlo's text fields. Menu-bar apps have no Edit menu, so pasting (e.g. an API key) previously only worked via right-click.
